Etimologia

Il nome deriva dal greco mwdgᾶκρος, mwdwàcros, cioè alto, sommo, e mweaἀσπίς, mweqaspìs, cioè scudo, probabilmente perché hanno l'mwegopistosoma rialzato a guisa di scudo.

Distribuzione

Le tre specie oggi note di questo genere sono state rinvenute in mwfqAustralia (mwfgAustralia occidentale, mwfwNuovo Galles del Sud e mwgaQueensland) e mwgqNuova Zelandacite-ref-araneidae-1-0[1].

Tassonomia

A maggio 2011, si compone di tre speciecite-ref-araneidae-1-1[1]:

• mwjgAcroaspis decorosa mwka(Urquhart, 1894) — Nuova Zelanda
• mwkwAcroaspis olorina mwlqmwlgKarsch, 1878cite-ref-2[2] — Australia occidentale, Nuovo Galles del Sud
• mwnaAcroaspis tuberculifera mwngmwnwThorell, 1881 — Queensland (Australia)
